Kysucky museum in Čadca

kysucke_muzeum It is the regional ethnographic museum based in Moyzesova ulica in Čadca. There is a permanent exhibition documenting the history and nature of Kysúce, there are also short-term thematic exhibitions. The museum specialises in a countrywide activity documenting of the development of forestry railways in Slovakia.

The museum was founded in 1972 as a district museum, however, since 1974 it has carried the name Kysucké Museum. From 1973 - 1975 research into folk civil engineering in Kysúce was carried out. From 1974 - 1981 a complete research into the flooded villages of Riečnica and Harvelka was done, whereby widespread collections and the purchase of items out in the field we done resulting in the basis of the museums collection.
