Route sign-marking

Cycle route sign-marking

(STN 01 80258 – Cycle touring sign-marking):
Marking of cycle routes is the foundation of safe riding for cyclists to enable them to wander around the natural and cultural riches of the country. Cycle routes are marked by shaped colour coded signs, with large and small cycle direction markers.

  • Cycle touring shaped sign - dimensions are 100 x 100 mm. Shaped like a letter C which is colour coded in line with the colour of the relevant cycle route (red, blue, green, yellow) and positioned on a white background. Used mainly in mountain, forestry and field environments, shown on a visible place and in the case of junctions in the shape of an arrow to indicate the correct direction.
  • Large direction markers are 450 x 140 mm.
At the apex of the marker there is the cycle sign in the relevant colour, the logo depicting a cyclist is also in the same colour and indicates the correct direction, for mountain bikes the logo is placed on a colour coded triangle symbolising “uphill ride”.
  • Small direction markers are 200 x 100 mm.

Difficulty of cycle routes:

  • recreational - are less difficult, ideal routes for familiarising oneself with riding a bike. The routes require the basic techniques of bike riding and a fairly basic level of fitness.
  • sport - more difficult cycle routes that require good riding technique and good level of fitness
  • expert - routes for the more demanding biker who devote more time and energy to the sport. The rider should have very good riding technique and very good level of fitness.
